With so many digital tools available to faculty and staff, knowing which platform to use when sharing information can help get your message to the right audience. The Hub is an important internal communication channel to help organize departmental updates, share campus resources and more.

Whether you’re a new employee or faculty member or a long-time member of the College looking for a refresher, this guide explains how to use The Hub, customize your page and access important resources to help you make the most of this communications tool.

Powered by SharePoint, The Hub is an intranet, a private, secure website accessible only to members of the College of Charleston community, including students, faculty and staff. It can act as a go-to place for internal information and resources and promote updates.

Investing time in building a well-organized Hub page can make it a vital resource for others on campus, reduce email overload and make resources easy to find.

Before building your Hub page, consider your intended audience. This can help keep the page organized and ensure the right people find the right information.

Your Hub page can serve different purposes depending on your unit’s communication needs:

  • Department-specific focus: If your unit primarily shares information relevant to its own faculty, staff or students, your Hub page should act as a centralized resource for departmental news, forms and updates.
  • Campuswide communication: If your unit provides services or information that impacts the entire College community, your Hub page should include broader updates, operational notices and resources accessible to everyone.

Best Uses for The Hub:

  • Post campuswide news and operational updates.
  • Share documents and resources for broad access.
  • Share department-specific news.
  • Organize files and forms for quick access.
  • Tip: Structure content by topic for easy navigation.

The Office of University Communications’ Hub page offers various resources to keep your communications professional and aligned with the College’s brand standards.

On this Hub page, you’ll find links to:

These resources help you create clear, consistent and visually engaging communications that reflect the College’s brand and values.

Several campus units provide tools and information to support teaching, learning, event planning and technology needs.

Explore these Hub pages to make the most the College’s resources:

The Hub includes tools for creating and sending newsletters directly from its platform. This is a great way to share regular updates without overwhelming inboxes. You can build your newsletter with existing resources and information on your Hub page, making it easy to pull everything together in one place.

Best uses for Hub newsletters:

  • Regular updates for students, faculty or staff
  • Tip: The Hub only stores email analytics for 90 days, so if you need long-term data, export and save it to a spreadsheet or other secure location.

The Hub serves as a central resource for the College community, offering tools, templates and information that make communication easier and more effective. From branding guidelines to event planning support and IT training, these resources are designed to help you share information quickly and confidently.
