Highlights From College of Charleston Athletics
The College of Charleston Department of Athletics has a lot to look forward to – and look back on – this year!
As it heads into the third consecutive sold-out men’s basketball season, the College of Charleston Department of Athletics has a lot to look forward to – and look back on – this year!
TD Arena has seen 39 consecutive men’s basketball sellouts dating back to Dec. 29, 2022, the eighth longest sellout streak in Division I men’s basketball.
“What an amazing statement, once again, by the Charleston community,” says athletics director Matt Roberts. “To experience three consecutive years of season ticket sellouts, this time with a record number of season tickets sold, is something all Division 1 programs aspire to achieve. While our industry continues to change, one thing remains the same: Charleston basketball is one of the most supported programs in the nation.”
Men’s basketball isn’t the only team to celebrate this semester, of course.
Women’s basketball was picked first in the annual Coaches’ Poll while guard Taryn Barbot was named the Coastal Athletic Association Preseason Player of the Year and Preseason All-CAA First Team for the second straight season. Guard Taylor Barbot was also selected to the Preseason All-CAA Second Team. Read more about this success here.

After bursting onto the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) scene last season, defeating then-No. 1 ranked Lynchburg in Single Discipline in their first-ever NCEA meet, the College of Charleston equestrian team is poised to become national champions this season. The men’s soccer team beat two nationally ranked programs this semester. First, the team beat No. 15 North Carolina in a 2-0 victory and earned its second top-15 win of the season against Furman.
