The College of Charleston and The Post and Courier are launching a new community-engagement initiative called Charleston Porch Talks. The series will bring together bestselling authors, thought leaders and award-winning journalists from The Post and Courier for intimate conversations that celebrate the power of storytelling and support vital local journalism.

“Charleston Porch Talks is an exciting new way for us to help host meaningful dialogues that connect the many different communities that make up our vibrant city,” said College of Charleston President Andrew T. Hsu

The inaugural Charleston Porch Talks event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m., featuring New York Times bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand. Her work recently gained new acclaim when The Perfect Couple was adapted into a Netflix limited series starring Nicole Kidman.

The second installment of Charleston Porch Talks is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21, at 6:30 p.m., featuring another New York Times bestselling author, Craig Johnson. He is the creator of the beloved Walt Longmire mystery series, which has captivated readers worldwide and been adapted into the hit Netflix series Longmire.
