Princeton Review Ranks College of Charleston Among the Best

The College of Charleston is earning praise as one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate students by The Princeton Review. The education services company has featured CofC in its annual college guide: The Best 391 Colleges: 2026 Edition.  

The Princeton Review selected colleges for the book based on data collected from surveys of more than 170,000 students and college administrators about their institutions’ academic offerings. The company also reviews data from surveys of college students attending other schools.  

In the guide, a CofC student mentioned that the College is a place where students “can express themselves freely and openly with little to no judgement.”

At the College, everyone “is welcoming to new students and freshmen,” said another student. “People are always willing to help each other out, and general class culture is very positive and uplifting.”

Only about 15% of America’s 2,400 four-year colleges are profiled in the publication. 

“The colleges we profile in our ‘Best Colleges’ book are a truly select group,” says Rob Franek, editor-in-chief of The Princeton Review. “The colleges that make our ranking lists do so entirely as a result of their own students’ opinions of them. We don’t rank colleges based on our opinion of them, nor would we crown a school ‘best’ overall. It is what the students attending the colleges in this book tell us about their experiences at their schools that determines on which lists the schools appear in our book. Our goal since Day One on this project has been to provide multiple resources to help college applicants answer what is for most the toughest question in their journey to college: ‘Which college is best for me?‘”
