Check Your Dates
Check your assigned orientation date in MyPortal. You can find this under the “Orientation Registration and Confirmation” tile. Set a reminder in your phone, mark your calendar and let the anticipation sink in! This is the first official step to becoming a Cougar!
For the daily orientation schedule, visit the orientation website at charleston.edu/orientation/schedule.

Take Care of Your Holds
Check your holds in MyPortal, under the “Holds” tile. You may have up to three holds: an orientation hold, a Health Services hold and a Lawful Presence hold. You will have an orientation hold until you attend your assigned session. Submit your required forms to clear the Health Services and Lawful Presence holds through the following links.
- Health Services – https://charleston.edu/student-health/immunizations.php
- Lawful Presence – https://charleston.edu/admission/admitted-students/nextsteps/lawful-presence.php

Stay Hydrated
The Charleston heat is no joke! Bring a reusable water bottle to stay cool and energized throughout the excitement of orientation. We have refill stations and water fountains all over campus, so you can stay hydrated while exploring and meeting new friends. Hydration is key!

Have Fun!
Most importantly, remember to have fun! This is the start of an exciting new chapter in your life, take it all in! Let loose, try something new and put yourself out there. Get to know your orientation group members – they are your future peers, study buddies and even lifelong friends. Familiarize yourself with the lovely College of Charleston campus and start counting down the days until move-in!
