Ever notice how the weather starts luring us outdoors right when it's time to study for finals? Fortunately, you don't have to resist the urge to abandon your books for a little fun in the sun. Just check out these five sunny study spots instead!

It’s not summer yet, but the weather is certainly getting warmer. When the sun comes out, textbooks tend to be put away. But why shouldn’t they get a chance to tan, too?

Plenty of College of Charleston students are bringing their studies out into the sunshine. Check out these five popular places to study and enjoy the spring weather!

Located right outside the Addlestone Library, Rivers Green is a natural study spot where the sun’s afternoon rays are as plentiful as the library’s books. If you’re lucky, you might just snag a hammock. And, with the Starbucks right through the Addlestone doors, there’s easy access to all the fuel you’ll need!

If you prefer some shade, the gorgeous oaks in the Cistern Yard have got you covered – literally. The historic ambience helps create the perfect study atmosphere. There’s also room for some ultimate frisbee when you need a break!

If you’ve got some time between classes in Maybank Hall or the Robert Scott Small Building, then the convenience of the Cougar Mall can’t be beat. And you can always grab a study snack from the P.O.D. in Maybank to boost your energy.

If homework on campus isn’t your cup of tea, there are plenty of local coffee shops with outdoor patio seating (and cups of tea). The Rise on Wentworth Street, Caviar & Bananas on George Street and Kudu on Vanderhorst Street are always popular options. They might even have a pastry to reward your ardent studying!

Maybe it’s not the typical study area, but Colonial Lake is a lovely place to destress and decompress from all the exam prep. Whether you want to spend your study break stretching your legs or basking in the sun, it’s a great place to unwind. Plus: Chances are, you’ll run into a dog or two. And, come on: Is there a better way to escape your studies than petting a neighborhood pup?!?
