Dear Campus Community,

I am pleased to announce the inaugural dean of the College’s School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics: Steven Schreiner.

A distinguished leader in engineering education and research, Dr. Schreiner brings extensive experience in academic leadership, biomedical engineering and interdisciplinary innovation.

Steven joins us from Manhattan College, where he served as provost and vice president for academic affairs and a professor of electrical and computer engineering. Prior to that, he was the engineering dean at the College of New Jersey and the founding chair of biomedical engineering at Western New England University.

He earned his B.S. in electrical engineering from Western New England University and his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University. His research interests include image-guided surgical devices, medical instrumentation, medical imaging and experimental design.

His passion and experience for STEM education, research and innovation will be invaluable as we continue to grow and enhance opportunities for our students and faculty as it relates to engineering, computing and mathematics.

Please join me in welcoming Dean Schreiner, who will start in this position on June 1, to the College of Charleston.

Sincerely,

Suzanne
