To strengthen email security, the College of Charleston’s Information Technology team is introducing Ironscales, an advanced email protection system, on Feb. 7, 2025.

Ironscales integrates with the College’s Microsoft email system to detect and block phishing attempts, spam and other malicious emails in real time. Using AI-driven analysis and crowdsourced insights, Ironscales enhances security across the campus community.

Campus should expect to see proactive protection, with AI continuously adapting to identify and stop threats faster than traditional spam filters, as well as tools to help manage email security, including:

  • Daily Digest Emails – Review and release quarantined messages
  • Email Banners – Real-time insights on message legitimacy
  • Enhanced Reporting – AI chatbot-assisted tools for reporting suspicious emails
