The Cougarettes took home the silver medal in the D1 hip-hop category at the Universal Dance Association Nationals last week.

The College of Charleston dance team, the Cougarettes, made program history at the Universal Dance Association Nationals, taking home the silver medal in the D1 hip-hop category. This marks the program’s second-ever podium finish and the highest finish in four years.

The Cougarettes competed in three events in the D1 category: jazz, game day and hip-hop. The team earned the highest historical raw score in program history in the jazz division preliminary round with a 91.4.

The team also took home seventh place in the game day division, wrapping up a successful weekend representing the College.

“The goal of this program is to consistently put more difficult and more clearly executed routines on the Nationals floor each season, and that goal was achieved this month,” says head coach Erica Slaughter. “The 2024–2025 team has set the bar high for the future of this program.”
