Background: I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in hospitality management from The George Washington University and have nearly 15 years of hospitality experience, with five years at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and eight years at French Quarter Inn/The Spectator Hotel (part of Charlestowne Hotels).

Expertise: Hospitality management, luxury hotels, boutique hotels, hotel operations

Outside Interests: Spending time exploring all that Charleston has to offer with my wife Amy and our dog Cookie, traveling, trying new food and drink recipes

Looking Forward: My Hotel Operations Management course will provide a great balance between the ideal hotel structure and real-world challenges/experiences. I am excited to teach some great students and learn from them as well.

Scott Eisberg

Scott Eisberg
Adjunct Faculty, Department of Communication

Background: I am a 2005 graduate of the University of South Carolina. I’m currently the sports director (main sports anchor) for WCIV-TV, ABCNews4 in Charleston. I have been at the station for 18 years covering the Charleston market.

Expertise: Sports communications and storytelling: going behind the scores and headlines and getting to know the athletes and coaches that make up our rich sports community in the Lowcountry

Outside Interests: I love going to sporting events and concerts and traveling with my family: my wonderful wife Cally and two great kids, Erin and Abby.

Looking Forward: I look forward to sharing inside information on the sportscasting world from real-life experiences, great guests and tricks and tips to succeed in a tough industry.

Taylor Gardner

Taylor Gardner
Adjunct Faculty, Department of Accounting and Business Law

Background: Originally from the Upstate, I went to the University of South Carolina for undergrad and Emory University for law school. While in law school, I tailored my coursework to prepare for a future role as an attorney in international business. I then received the opportunity to study international law in the Hague in the Netherlands. When I returned to Atlanta, I served as a legal research and writing fellow, worked for an Atlanta-based firm that handled international trade and tax matters for Fortune 500 companies, and also worked for a nonprofit organization designed to connect Georgia-based artists with licensed attorneys to aid in the protection of their work. After graduation, I clerked for a federal judge in Atlanta, and later moved to Charleston to work in house as general counsel for an international labor franchise. Now I practice with a small law firm, where I focus primarily on business litigation.

Expertise: Despite my experience, I still consider myself fairly young in terms of legal expertise, but I do think I have an affinity for contract and tort law, business ethics, corporate social responsibility, international business law and general business law principles. As for some areas of interest, I’m drawn toward the legal implications of social media, particularly on content creators who identify as one with their businesses, in addition to shareholder rights and activism, blockchain technology and smart contracts, and the legal implications of artificial intelligence.

Outside Interests: I enjoy cooking, travel, staying active, riding horses and spending time outdoors.

Looking Forward: I look forward to teaching the Legal Environment of Business and having the opportunity to help students feel empowered to use their voices to advocate for themselves and others.

Mac Lillard

Mac Lillard

Background: I graduated from Clemson University in 2013 and obtained my master’s in 2014. I worked in external audit for six years and transitioned into risk advisory consulting for the last four, specializing in internal audit, fraud/forensics and IT/cybersecurity. I moved to Charleston in March of 2023 with my wife (Kristen) and dog (Zoey) after living in Arlington, Virginia, for nine years after school.

Expertise: Fraud/forensics, business valuation, IT/cybersecurity, and risk management

Outside Interests: I enjoy outdoor activity and am an exercise fanatic. Golfing, playing basketball, hiking, running, fishing, camping, relaxing at the beach: Anything you can do outside in the sun with friends, I’m in.

Looking Forward: I look forward to sharing my expertise and experiences with the new generation of accounting majors to get them excited about the profession and its opportunities.

Lisa O'Dierno

Lisa O’Dierno
Adjunct Faculty, Department of Art and Architectural History

Background: I am currently the owner of an architecture and interior design firm with headquarters in New York City and a second location that is in the process of opening in Charleston, South Carolina. I am a New York City native, living now in Charleston to oversee my second office, but will travel back to NYC for important dates, etc. I hold a master’s degree in historic preservation and interior design and a bachelor’s degree in architecture. Before coming to the CofC, I ran my NYC office and have been in the design industry for the past 18 years. I have also been an adjunct at NYC design schools: Parsons the New School (NYC), FIT (NYC) and Pratt Institute (Brooklyn).

Expertise: Architecture, historic preservation and interior design

Outside Interests: I am an avid equestrian, trying to ride as much as I can. Being part of my industry in the capacity of teaching is of great enjoyment to me. I walk and hike extensively with my two dogs. I love to travel. In 2024, I lived in France for eight months, and I’m planning on traveling more in the coming year(s).

Looking Forward: I am very excited to teach an interior design and a historic preservation course at CofC this spring. I will treat both courses as studio courses, which gives the student a full hands-on environment of learning. The time in each class will be a balance of individual guidance and class presentations and discussion. Each student will produce their own project that includes research, presentation and mastering industry steps of process. For ID and HP, I feel this is a highly beneficial way for students to learn, explore and test their findings and progress.

After five years in professional baseball, I transitioned to coaching and training, earning advanced certifications and a master’s degree in applied exercise science. I founded E3 Sports Performance, where I’ve helped athletes achieve their goals of advancing to collegiate programs. I’m passionate about education and began pursuing teaching in 2020, recently discussing opportunities to teach physical activity courses at the College of Charleston. My background as an athlete and trainer, combined with my expertise in exercise science, equips me to contribute to the College community by preparing students for careers in physical activity, fitness and sports.

Expertise: Weightlifting, Sports Performance, Baseball Performance, Pitching Performance.

Outside Interests: Spending time with my wife and our 2-year-old daughter, spending time out on the boat or at the beach, and exploring all things that Charleston has to offer

Drawing from my experience as a professional athlete, trainer and educator, I plan to create engaging, hands-on courses that connect theory to real-world applications. The opportunity to share my expertise in exercise science and physical activity while mentoring students is incredibly rewarding. I look forward to fostering a dynamic learning environment that inspires students to explore their potential and develop the tools needed to succeed in their chosen paths.
