CofC Hosts Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Peacebuilding Panel
This panel of esteemed experts will explore innovative multilateral strategies for rebuilding in the aftermath of wars and conflicts.
The College of Charleston will host a panel discussion, “Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Peacebuilding: Multilateral Approaches to a World Beyond Wars and Conflicts,” from 1–2:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, in the Jewish Studies Center’s Arnold Hall (96 Wentworth St.). The event is free and open to the public.
Organized by the College of Charleston Historic Preservation and Community Planning Program in partnership with the G20/T20 Brazil 2024, this panel will explore innovative multilateral strategies for rebuilding in the aftermath of wars and conflicts. The discussion will address the roles of key global governance bodies such as the G20, United Nations and World Trade Organization, emphasizing inclusive governance, equitable economic recovery, cultural heritage restoration and the “One Health” approach that links environmental and human health in post-conflict recovery efforts.
The esteemed panel of experts includes Grant Gilmore, archaeologist and director of the Historic Preservation and Community Planning Program; Mykola Volkivskyi, expert in Eastern European politics; Mychal Jefferson, chairman of the board at Hamershlag Private; Karl Wagner an expert in intelligence and national security with 29 years of worldwide CIA service; David Venable, senior cybersecurity fellow with the Alliance for Innovation and Infrastructure; Timothy Sneed, veteran member of the White House Advance Team.
Together, they will share diverse insights on building sustainable, peaceful futures through reformed, inclusive global institutions.
The event is recognized under the T20’s Brazil Task Force 6, TF06 is a dedicated body focused on strengthening multilateralism and enhancing global governance. The T20, or Think20, is an engagement group under the G20 framework, gathering leading thinktanks and scholars from across the globe to provide research-based policy recommendations that address pressing global challenges. The T20 TF06 prioritizes collaborative, multilateral solutions to foster stability and resilience in post-conflict regions, aligned with its commitment to advancing equitable, sustainable global governance.
