Two Cougars Named CAA Preseason Players of the Year
Taryn Barbot and Ante Brzovic have been named the 2024-25 CAA Preseason Players of the Year.
College of Charleston senior Ante Brzovic (above left) and sophomore Taryn Barbot (above right) have been named the 2024-25 CAA Preseason Players of the Year, the conference announced on Friday, Oct. 18, 2024.
Barbot was named the program’s first CAA Rookie of the Year for the 2023-24 season, averaging 14.6 points per game and 6.2 rebounds. She also received Second Team All-CAA and CAA All-Rookie team in her first season with the Cougars.
A six-time CAA Rookie of the Week in her debut year, Barbot reached double figures in 21 games, eclipsed 20 points six times and scored a season-high 36 points on January 14 – the most by any CAA player last season.
Barbot is the first Charleston player to be named CAA Preseason Player of the Year in program history.

Brzovic earned a spot on the 2023-24 All-CAA First Team and NABC All-District 10 First Team. Already named the 2024-25 Blue Ribbon CAA Preseason Player of the Year, the Croatian big man scored 20-plus points on three occasions last year including a career-high 31 at Hampton. Averaging 12.1 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game last season, he scored double figures in 22 contests including five double-doubles. He was a unanimous All-CAA Preseason First Team selection.
