On this episode of Speaking of … College of Charleston, George Johnson, executive director of strategic communications at the College of Charleston, interviews Hayden Cohen, a junior theatre major and student orientation leader.

Cohen reflects on her journey from feeling out of place at the College to becoming an integral part of the campus community – and shares insights into her extensive involvement on campus, including her role in the photography club, in Hillel and on the student advisory board at the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art. She also talks about her aspirations for the future.

The conversation delves into the importance of effective communication among roommates, the significance of campus resources like the Counseling Center and advice for new students on adapting to college life.

  • Speak up for yourself, ask for help when you’re feeling homesick.

Hayden Cohen is a junior at the College of Charleston majoring in theatre with a concentration in Theatre for Youth. She’s a second-year orientation intern who started the photography club, is currently the vice president of HSAB (Halsey Student Advisory Board) and a member of CofC Hillel. She’s also a former CofC Bridge program participant, Leadership Council member and peer mentor. Cohen hopes to enroll in the College’s M.A.T. in Performing Arts program upon graduation.
