Learning is heating up with summer camps at the College of Charleston!

School may be out for the summer, but learning never stops at the College of Charleston!

With a variety of day camps for high school students focusing on everything from computer programming to creative arts to dance to community health to theater – the College has something educational and fun for everyone to learn over the long days of summer. The College also offers a variety of athletics camps for athletes of all ages.

Check out the following camps on campus that will help students of all ages avoid the summer slide!

Taught by the distinguished CofC faculty, the STEM 360 Pre-College Summer Program takes high school students on a journey through several instructional and hands-on training activities on a variety of STEM topics – including biology, marine biology, chemistry, environmental geosciences, engineering and computer programming, among others – and shows them what it’s like to major in these fields in college.

  • Who: Rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in STEM
  • Location: The College’s state-of-the-art facilities, with tours of companies and fieldwork at Stono Preserve and Grice Marine Lab
  • Dates: July 14–18, 2025
  • Times: 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

The Summer Dance Experience is hosted by the College of Charleston Department of Theatre and Dance and aims to foster the growth of young artists through technique classes, seminars and repertory. Students will learn from professional artists and experienced educators who will nurture and challenge both bodies and minds. Seminar topics include injury prevention/body conditioning, pilates, career exploration, musical theater styles and contact improvisation. The program culminates in an informal performance at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025.

The Summer Theatre Experience offers an intensive, five-day program designed for high school students (rising freshmen to recent graduates) to explore a wide array of theater disciplines. This immersive experience fosters both individual growth and collaborative artistry through a diverse curriculum that blends performance, creative exploration and technical skill-building. Students will engage in rigorous, hands-on workshops led by faculty members, professional artists and industry experts, offering insight into the various facets of theatrical production. Technique classes and seminar topics include acting, devised theater, script analysis, theater design and production, scene study and movement for musical theater. The program culminates in an informal showing at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025.

Honors College Summer Institute

Honors College Summer Institute's pre-college Saving Biodiversity in the Anthropocene with visiting Professor Chris Freeman

The Honors College Summer Institute offers intellectually curious high school students looking to explore, enhance their skills and lay the foundation to become change-makers in their community. Taught by CofC faculty, this year’s courses include Out of Class, Into Charleston (June 23–28); Healing in Charleston With Art and Medicine (June 24–26); and Saving Charleston’s Ecosystems (July 7–11). All courses are offered in person on the College of Charleston’s beautiful downtown campus, with opportunities for field trips and local excursions.

This course is gives students access to the biodiversity of the Charleston-area Lowcountry, connecting them with the tools and skills they’ll need to help make sure it survives for centuries to come. Students will learn how local organisms are supporting the Lowcountry’s unique ecosystems, how humans are impacting these ecosystems and what can be done to help us coexist with all our biodiverse neighbors.

  • Who: Rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who dream of saving the planet, but aren’t sure where to begin
  • Location: College of Charleston campus, with daily field trips to Grice Marine Lab, Stono Preserve, local salt marshes and other impacted areas in and around Charleston
