College of Charleston Offers Suicide-Intervention Skills Workshops
The Office of Student Wellness and Well-being is offering CofC staff, faculty and students three free, two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshops this summer.
The College of Charleston Office of Student Wellness and Well-being is offering CofC staff, faculty and students three free, two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshops from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 11–12, July 9–10 and Aug. 15–16, 2024.
These intensive ASIST workshops are for anyone who would like to feel more confident and competent when identifying, intervening and referring a person in a suicidal crisis. Those who sign up will learn how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs, providing a skilled intervention and developing a safety plan to keep someone alive.
It is especially recommended for people who have one-on-one interaction with students (e.g., staff, faculty and mentors in residence life, academic advising, etc.) or are pursuing careers with high-risk populations.
Participation in both days is required to attend. For more information and to register, email studentwellness@cofc.edu.
