As one of the organizations integral to the founding of the Cooper River Bridge Run in 1978, the College of Charleston has always been at the head of the pack of the 6.2-mile race from Mount Pleasant to Charleston. And this year is no different.

In fact, with College of Charleston President Andrew T. Hsu and Student Government Association President Lilli Taylor in the running, the 2024 Cooper River Bridge Run will be something of a presidential race for the CofC family!

The two presidents will join hundreds of other Cougars who are lacing up to “get over it” on Saturday, April 6, 2024. And – with a pre-race buffet dinner the night before and an “afterparty” at the booth in Marion Square afterward – the College will be there to cheer them on every step of the way!

It all starts at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 5, when Taylor and Wes Dudgeon, interim dean for the School of Health Sciences, will be interviewed on Lowcountry Live (WCIV ABC News 4).

That evening, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., the College is hosting an all-you-care-to-eat Bridge Run Buffet at Liberty Fresh Food Co. (30 St. Philip St.) for CofC students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, friends and families who are running the race. The feast has been curated by executive chef and Chopped alumna Tonya Williams and will include an endless salad bar, brick oven pizzas, delicious pastas, desserts and beverages. Register yourself and your whole family by Wednesday, April 3, and receive a limited addition CofC running shirt while supplies last!

The College of Charleston community (students, faculty, staff and alumni) may also pick up a free moisture-wicking CofC/Bridge Run T-shirt from the Stern Student Center between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, and Friday, April 5. Proof of registration as a race participant or volunteer is required. T-shirt quantity and sizes are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

On race day, be on the lookout for President Hsu and SGA President Taylor on the course and Clyde at the finish line!

Then, meet up with CofC alumni, students and employees at the College’s booth in Marion Square after the race for some CofC swag giveaways and photo opportunities!
