As the Cougars men's basketball team prepares to go to the NCAA tournament, basketball pundits make predictions on the College of Charleston's first-round matchup.

Let the speculation begin!

Now that the Cougars have received a ticket to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, there is a lot of guessing about their first-round opponent and where that game will be played.

It may be too early to answer those questions, but that has not stopped the basketball pundits from guessing. Here are some of the opinions:

  • The Washington Post believes the College will play Marquette University in Omaha, Nebraska.
  • ESPN and Delphi Bracketology predict the College will play Auburn in Spokane, Washington.
  • USA Today predicts Charleston will play Duke University in Spokane, Washington.
  • The Athletic has the College against Marquette University in Indianapolis.
  • SB Nation thinks the College will play the University of Illinois in Spokane, Washington.
  • CBS Sports has Charleston playing the University of Kentucky in Brooklyn, New York.
  • RotoWire predicts that the College will play Creighton University in Pittsburgh.
  • Fox Sports has Charleston playing Duke University, but did not predict a location.
  • Bracketville predicts the College will play the University of Kentucky in Pittsburgh.

It’s worth noting that last year, Bleacher Report was the only one to correctly predict that the Cougars would play San Diego State University in the first round of the tournament. However, no pundits predicted that the game would take place in Orlando.

All the speculation ends on Sunday, March 17, 2024, when the men’s NCAA bracket and field will be revealed during the selection show Sunday at 6 p.m. on CBS-TV.

Stay tuned for all the latest in the Cougars’ journey to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament!
