College of Charleston Foundation Board Welcomes New Members

The College of Charleston is honored to have dedicated, passionate leaders serving on the College of Charleston Foundation Board of Directors. Comprising 40 voting directors and six nonvoting Foundation Fellows, the Foundation Board promotes the College’s education, research, student development and faculty development. The board also stewards the Foundation’s endowment and assets.

Members of the Foundation Board of Directors gain firsthand insight into the transformative impact of philanthropy on the College. Through their service, they witness the lasting difference that donor support makes while investing their own time, expertise and resources to strengthen the institution’s future. 

“Serving on the Foundation Board is an opportunity to invest in the future of the College and the generations of students who will shape our communities,” says Johnnie Baxley ’92, P ’21 and ’23, chair of the Foundation Board. “Our board is strengthened by the diverse experiences and perspectives of its members, and together we are committed to ensuring the College continues to thrive.” 

The Foundation Board of Directors voted to welcome the following eight new board members, who began their first term on July 1, 2026. 

Voting Directors

Renee Harvey ’11

An entrepreneur and political adviser, Renee Harvey ’11 is the founder of HRH Consulting, co-founder of H2 Partners and a partner at Atomic Focus Entertainment. She has held senior advisory roles on multiple political campaigns, including George Conway for Congress and Dr. Annie Andrews for Senate, and is a co-founder of “Their Future. Our Vote.” She has also previously served on the boards of Second Chance Bikes and Art Forms & Theatre Concepts. She holds a B.S. in psychology from the College and an MBA from Charleston Southern University.  Harvey resides in Charleston. 

David Johnson, P ’22

David Johnson is the founder and senior partner of Private Client Group, an independent wealth management firm serving clients from offices based in New Jersey, New York and Florida. Before funding the firm in 2009, he spent more than two decades as a financial adviser with UBS, PaineWebber and Kidder Peabody. Johnson currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Centenary University and Freedom House. He has long been active in nonprofit leadership. Johnson resides in East Califon, New Jersey, with his wife and son, Joe Johnson ’22. 

Joynicole Martinez ’96

Joynicole Martinez ’96 is CEO and president of Rising Tide Capital and the founder of The Alchemist Agency. She serves on numerous boards and advisory organizations, including the Forbes Coaches Council, the College of Charleston Alumni Association Board of Directors, the World Business Angels Investment Forum, Girls on the Run and the Wisdom to Believe Foundation.  Martinez received her B.A. in political science and government from the College, her master’s from University of Phoenix and her doctorate from A.T. Still University. She resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband and five children. 

R. Milton Thomas III ’88

R. Milton Thomas III ’88 is managing director of Colliers | South Carolina and managing principle of Turnbull Development. He is also founder and owner of Lee & Associates Charleston and has spent decades leading commercial real estate and development projects across the Lowcountry. Thomas is an active leader in his community, having served on numerous boards including DREAM (Downtown Restoration and Enhancement Management) in Summerville, Junior Achievement of Coastal South Carolina, the Summerville YMCA, the Southern Coastal Board for First Citizens Bank and the Vestry of St. Paul’s Church. In 2025, Milton was the recipient of the March of Dimes Real Estate and Economic Development Award.  He earned his B.S. in business administration from the College. He resides in Charleston with his wife and two children. 

Nonvoting Foundation Fellows   

Ben Carew ’16

Ben Carew ’16 is co-chief investment officer at Tandem Investment Advisors Inc. in Charleston. Since joining the firm in 2013, he has overseen trading, investment operations, research and portfolio management while leading the firm’s equity research internship program. At the College, Carew serves on the Young Alumni Council and the board of the Center for Public Choice and Market Process; he previously served as vice chair of the School of Business Investment Program. Carew earned a B.S. in economics with a minor in finance from the College. He resides in Mount Pleasant with his wife, Elaine Carew ’16, and their two children.  

Mary Geer Kirkland ’20

Mary Geer Kirkland ’20 is an attorney with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough. Her practice focuses on commercial real estate, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate transactions. A Charleston native, Kirkland earned her B.A. in international studies and Spanish from the College before completing her Juris Doctor and international MBA from the University of South Carolina.  

Sara Levin ’13

Sara Levin ’13 is a managing director at WallachBeth, where she advises institutional clients on exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and derivative trading solutions, market structure and product development. Prior to joining WallachBeth, she held positions at WisdomTree and ETF Securities, supporting institutional investors and expanding ETF strategies in the U.S. and abroad. Levin completed her B.A. in art history and historic preservation and community planning at the College. Levin resides in Charleston.

ReZsaun V. Lewis ’14 (M.P.A. ’21)

ReZsaun V. Lewis ’14 (M.P.A. ’21) is program manager for Grantmakers for Southern Progress, a philanthropic membership network that works to increase funding and support for organizations advancing equity and structural change across the South. He previously served as executive director of Lowcountry Youth Services, where he spent a decade leading and expanding mentoring and youth development initiatives across the Lowcountry. A nonprofit executive, author, speaker and U.S. Army veteran, Lewis has dedicated his career to youth mentorship, leadership development, civic engagement and strengthening nonprofit organizations. He serves on the boards of Together SC and Fact Forward, and is a founding member of the Mentoring Network of South Carolina. Lewis earned an associate degree from Trident Technical College and both a B.S. in elementary education and M.P.A. from the College. He is the author of I Need Answers, Vol. 1: How Important Is It for a Boy to Have a Positive Male Role Model? and The A to Z Guide to Becoming HIM. Above all, he considers being a husband to his wife, Toya, and a father to their six children as his greatest accomplishment. 

Olivia Radtke ’24

Olivia Radtke ’24 is an agent at New York Life Insurance. Radtke earned her Bachelor of Integrated Studies with minors in marketing and communication from the College and her MBA from Stetson University. She is currently pursuing a paralegal certificate from the University of South Carolina. Radtke resides in Charleston. 

Oliver Steinberg ’23

Oliver Steinberg ’23 is managing principal of Eagle Equity Inc., his family’s investment and commercial real estate office, with a primary focus on retail commercial real estate, urban redevelopment and asset management. He is also vice president at The Retail Connection, where he specializes in landlord and tenant representation, hospitality leasing and investment sales. He founded a hospitality group currently developing its first restaurant concept in Dallas and co-founded Our Giving Kitchen Dallas and Our Giving Kitchen International, a nonprofit that brings together volunteers and businesses to prepare and package nutrient-rich meals for community members in need while supporting the expansion of new chapters across North America. Steinberg earned his B.S. in finance and commercial real estate finance with a minor in Jewish studies from the College. He returned to his hometown of Dallas, where he resides with his girlfriend, a 2023 graduate of the College, and their dog, Teddy. 

Like any university, the College of Charleston operates a separate foundation to steward philanthropic support. The College of Charleston Foundation safeguards donor investments and ensures gifts make a lasting difference to the College.
