College of Charleston Welcomes New Staff

The College of Charleston family continues to grow with the addition of these new staff members from across campus. Coming to campus from far and wide, these new employees are all excited to connect with the CofC community and make a difference through their work.

Rob Fulford
Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, Athletics Department

Background: I’m coming from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where I was the associate head coach.

Interests: I like jogging, spending time with family and golf.

Looking Forward: I’m looking forward to the winning tradition in a great location.

Kerry Jablonski
Assistant Director for Outreach and Programming, Academic Advising and Planning Center

Background: Originally from Massachusetts, I have a master’s in education from the University of Miami and a bachelor’s in health science from Keene State College. Prior to joining the AAPC, I have worked in advising and student support at MUSC, University of North Carolina Wilmington, University of South Florida, University of Miami and San Diego State University.

Interests: I enjoy going to the beach, cooking, farmers markets, photography and spending time with my pit bull Magnolia.

Looking Forward: I am looking forward to welcoming students and supporting them throughout their academic journey. I am looking forward to learning and being part of campus traditions!

Kailey Oakes
Stewardship Officer, Institutional Advancement

Background: Before coming to the College, I was an alumni relations coordinator at Johns Hopkins University. I also received my master’s degree from Johns Hopkins in museum studies in December of 2025. I am from Maryland and lived there most of my life.

Interests: I love to read and am a member of a book club. I also love going to local coffee shops to try different lattes.

Looking Forward: I am looking forward to meeting staff members and building connections.

Tarshea Samuel
Accounts Receivable Officer, Treasurer’s Office

Background: I’m from Adams Run, South Carolina, and worked as a digital lead recruiter and recruiting manager with Supplemental Healthcare prior to coming to the College of Charleston. I have a background in operations management, collections, customer service, full cycle recruiting and business administration. I received my bachelor’s in business administration from Strayer University in 2023 and am currently pursuing my Master of Business Administration with Capella University. 

Interests: Faith, education, family and building generational wealth is important to me. In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with family, relaxing, reading books and serving in community building or events.

Looking Forward: Working at CofC, I’m looking forward to growing and developing professionally, learning new skills and advancing within my career path.

Susanna Sartain ’20
Therapist, Counseling Center

Background: Originally from Georgia, I’ve now been in Charleston for about 10 years. I completed my undergraduate degree here at the College, and received my master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Wake Forest.

Interests: Traveling, reading, going on walks with my dog and cooking are some of my favorite things to do.

Looking Forward: I’m excited to get to give back to my alma mater in such a meaningful way!

Courtney Smith ’14
Administrative Assistant, Women’s and Gender Studies Program

Background: I first came to Charleston in 2010 as a College of Charleston freshman – and I never left! I graduated from the School of Education, and I’ve taught every grade from sixth to 12th. Staying in Charleston for over a decade was not my initial plan; I lived in several different states AND countries when I was a kid and just assumed I’d keep moving around. I grew up in Barcelona, Spain, and went to four different high schools – and, after living in Charleston longer than I have any other one place, I am happy to call it home.

Interests: The cause that is nearest to my heart is my advocacy work as a stage IIIC colorectal cancer survivor. I was diagnosed at 31 and am now a staunch supporter of education surrounding colon health and colonoscopies. I am also a cat mom of three, a tarot reader and a collage artist in my spare time!

Looking Forward: I am so happy to be able to walk through CofC’s beautiful campus and feel connected to what brought me to Charleston in the first place. I am also incredibly excited to be working with my amazing colleagues in the Women’s and Gender Studies Program and to get to know the students in the fall!
