Show Your Cougar Pride with the New CofC Art Installation
Located at the Coming Street entrance to Rivers Green, the College of Charleston's new campus landmark is a must-see photo-op for Cougars young and old!

Just in time for the beginning of summer orientation and the upcoming academic year, the College of Charleston has unveiled a colorful new campus landmark at the entrance to Rivers Green behind the Addlestone Library. Students, visitors, alumni and the public can now access this new photo opportunity, featuring the College’s signature maroon school color and branding.
The new 3D installation, which is visible along Coming Street, is a must-see for the College family to show their Cougar pride. Whether on move-in day in August or as a backdrop for campus events throughout the year, the artwork fosters a sense of pride and tradition that defines the College of Charleston experience.
The photo-op is part of a larger campuswide branding update that includes plans for new building signage, outdoor wayfinding signage, digital kiosks and several major facility renovation projects.
“This initiative is aimed at enhancing visibility and strengthening institutional identity across campus,” says President Andrew T. Hsu. “The goal is to make the College feel more cohesive and recognizable to both visitors and the greater campus community.”
The letters were designed by the College’s marketing team and manufactured by Jake Oleksak and Alan Sheeley with Huss Inc. The architectural firm on the project was Simons Young with Young + Wales Architects. Bringing the project to fruition required coordination across multiple campus units, including the President’s Office, Facilities Management, Marketing and Communications and the Addlestone Library.
“Working with Jake and Alan at Huss Inc. and Simons of Young + Wales is always a privilege, especially when a project checks the boxes of many departments on campus,” says Gina Nagel ’21, who coordinated the project for Facilities Management, ensuring that all approvals, deadlines and standards were followed. “I am eager to see how this new addition enhances school spirit and a sense of belonging on campus.”
The letters, which will be illuminated at night, provide the perfect complement to the library, the fountain and the surrounding landscape of Rivers Green. A formal ceremony celebrating the campus addition will occur this fall semester.
