Provost Austin Receives SC Women in Business Recognition
Suzanne Austin, executive vice president of academic affairs and provost, has been recognized on Integrated Media Publishing's SC Women in Business list.
Integrated Media Publishing recently recognized Suzanne Austin, executive vice president of academic affairs and provost at the College of Charleston, in its annual SC Women in Business recognition. She was one of 126 women across the Palmetto State featured in the June/July 2026 issues of Charleston Business, Columbia Business Monthly, Greenville Business Magazine, B2B: The Grand Strand and B2B: Pee Dee Business.
Since 2020, Austin has served as the College’s chief academic officer, overseeing academic programs, faculty affairs and student success initiatives. Before joining the College, she was senior vice provost at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and held leadership roles at the University of Delaware. She earned her Ph.D. in history from Duke University and has extensive experience in academic leadership at public research institutions.
“Leadership is the ability to create a shared vision for the organization, identify strategic priorities and mobilize people and resources to achieve institutional goals,” Austin said in an interview on the Integrated Media Publishing website. “All organizations are full of people who can identify problems; what sets a leader apart from others is the ability to devise and implement solutions.”
The women chosen as 2026 SC Women in Business will be honored at a luncheon in Greenville on July 29.
