While College of Charleston staff look back on a year of hard work with appreciation, students are digging for clues about what Charleston looked like in the early 1700s.

College of Charleston students are gaining hands-on archaeology experience through a summer excavation project at a private property on Charleston’s peninsula. The summer project provides students with the opportunity to engage in field work with Sarah Platt, assistant professor of anthropology, that may uncover layers of history that no longer exist.
