Because digital accessibility is a shared responsibility across the College, all employees will be required to complete a foundational accessibility training course.

The course will help ensure that all multimedia and other digital materials the College creates will be accessible to all users – including individuals with disabilities. Examples of the materials include emails, documents, web content, captioned videos and more.  The new standard that online materials must meet is Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level A/AA.

The course, titled Fast Track to Accessibility for Any Role (Non-Technical), is available through CougarEd, the Office of Human Resource’s learning management system. All staff and faculty should have received an automated notification indicating that they have been enrolled in the course, along with instructions for accessing it.

The course will take approximately 55 minutes to complete, and you will be able to work through it in sections, rather than all at once. All faculty and staff will be required to complete the training no later than Tuesday, June 30.

Completing the training will ensure that the College meets federal requirements and that our digital environment is inclusive and accessible to all.  Supervisors will be expected to work with their teams to ensure that the College is in compliance with the new federal regulations.

In addition to the mandatory training module, the College will provide eight supplemental, digital accessibility modules in CougarEd. While these are optional at this time, supervisors may require additional training based on an individual’s specific role and job responsibilities in order to support compliance and best practices.

Additional resources and updates are available on the College’s digital accessibility page. If you have questions about digital accessibility at the College, email the ADA office at: [email protected].

Should you have any questions regarding accessing the Fast Track to Accessibility for Any Role (Non-Technical) course, please reach out to Kendall Cage at [email protected].
