Carolyn Hart

Carolyn Hart
RN to BSN Program Director, School of Health Sciences

Background: I’m a Pennsylvania native, but my husband and I are used to moving around – we’ve lived all across the country! We made the move to Hartsville, South Carolina, from Miami, Florida, and we’re so happy to be here. Professionally, my passion is building new programs; I’ve had the great experience of launching two other nursing programs.

Interests: When I’m not working, I’m usually elbow-deep in a home improvement project; most recently, I was helping tackle the addition of a sunroom! And once the tools are put away, you can find me in the kitchen – I’m a passionate home cook.

Looking Forward: What truly resonated with me at CofC was the exceptional collegiality and the shared dedication to student outcomes. I am committed to making a significant contribution to the campus community and securing new nursing pathways.

Marisa Kate Henthorn

Access Services Evening Manager, CofC Libraries

Background: I grew up in Charleston but have moved around a bunch going to school and exploring the world! I have degrees in art history and archaeology. Happy to be joining CofC!

Interests: I write! Mostly fantasy novels, but short stories, too. I also horse ride.

Looking Forward: Meeting new people, helping students and being part of an academic environment.

Marykate Loper

Marykate Loper
Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach, Athletics Department

Background: I am from Rhode Island. I grew up playing soccer my whole life. Most recently, I was playing professional soccer in the USL Super League in Lexington, Kentucky.

Interests: I love the beach and being outside. I love to exercise and spending time with friends and family.

Looking Forward: I am looking forward to being a part of such a vibrant, positive and supportive community.

Shawyna Williams

Shawyna Williams
Postal Logistics Specialist, Office of Mail Services

Background: I was born and raised in the South Carolina area. Before coming to the College I was a stay-at-home mom homeschooling my kids.

Interests: What’s most important to me is my family. My hobbies are cooking and fishing with my dad.

Looking Forward: What I’m looking forward to the most is connecting with the young adults from all over the world.

Mattie Young

Mattie Young
Cashier/Customer Service Representative, Treasurer’s Office

Background: I am originally from a small town called Central, South Carolina, a few minutes from Clemson, South Carolina. Before coming to College of Charleston, I completed cosmetology and received my cosmetology license. I worked in multiple salons, and that is where I realized I loved working in customer service. I have loved math my entire life and the financial side of math and being able to tie that into my work.

Interests: I love to spend time with my dog, friends and family in my free time. I am very family oriented, I am very thankful for the family I have! I also love to read, watercolor, and recently I started learning to needle point and knit!

Looking Forward: I am most looking forward to all of the people I am going to meet and work with
