College of Charleston to Host S.C. GOP Gubernatorial Debate
Republican candidates will take the stage at the Sottile Theatre on Tuesday, April 21.
The South Carolina Republican Party is sponsoring a series of debates for candidates for governor in the 2026 election. The next debate will be held Tuesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. at the College of Charleston’s Sottile Theatre.
“The coming election represents the first truly open governor’s race for Republicans since 2010, and we’re looking forward to creating an opportunity for all South Carolinians to hear from our candidates as they consider who to support in the coming campaign,” says Drew McKissick, South Carolina GOP state chairman.
Gray Media will provide exclusive broadcasts and live streams of the debates. In the Charleston area, the debate will air on Live 5 News. Raphael James will moderate the debate.
“These debates will help people become educated about the choices they’ll have in the primary,” says Bryce Caldwell, general manager of Gray Media station WHNS in Greenville. “As the leader in the Upstate for political coverage, we’re honored and pleased to be able to offer local voters multiple opportunities to see candidates for governor go head to head.”
The debate series began March 17 in Conway, South Carolina. A May 26 debate is planned in Spartanburg.
