College of Charleston is ranked No. 7 among medium schools on the Peace Corps’ 2026 Top Volunteer-Producing Colleges and Universities list.

“Being recognized by the Peace Corps speaks to the heart of what we strive to cultivate at the College of Charleston – graduates who are not only career-ready, but community-minded and globally engaged,” says Jim Allison, executive director of the College’s Career Center. “Our graduates are eager to apply their skills in meaningful ways and make a lasting impact in communities around the world.”

During the Peace Corps’ past fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2024–Sept. 30, 2025), 17 College of Charleston alumni served in 14 countries around the world, including Cambodia, the Dominican Republic, Guinea, Malawi, Mexico, Nepal, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Zambia.

Since the Peace Corps’ founding in 1961, 317 alumni from the College of Charleston have served abroad as volunteers.

“We are grateful to partner with colleges and universities across the nation who instill the value of national service in their students, inspiring them to pursue their purpose post-graduation,” says Peace Corps acting director Richard E. Swarttz. “Peace Corps service is still the toughest job you’ll ever love, and we want Americans of all backgrounds to challenge themselves to grow personally and professionally as a volunteer.”
