Hootie and the Blowfish bassist Dean Felber is setting aside his bass on Friday, April 10, to speak with students in the College of Charleston School of Business.

The two-time Grammy winner, along with his wife Andrea, will address three of the College’s entrepreneurship and management classes to share their professional experiences and answer students’ questions related to launching business ventures, pursuing passion projects and giving back to the community.

This visit to the College precedes the Felbers’ charity event, Woofstock, a dog music festival sponsored in part by their nonprofit organization, Deans Dogs. Students from the three classes are encouraged to volunteer at the event on April 11 to gain valuable experiential learning opportunities.

“This kind of real-world engagement is exactly what brings learning to life for our students,” says Taryn McKenzie, instructor of business and entrepreneurship. “Hearing directly from professionals like Dean and Andrea – and then applying those insights through hands-on experiences like Woofstock – helps our students build confidence, expand their networks and see how their skills can make a meaningful impact in our community. It’s a powerful example of how we support student success both inside and outside the classroom.”

The April 10 visit to the College will include the following class sessions:

  • Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice (10 a.m., Beatty Center, Room 320)
  • Management and Organizational Behavior (11 a.m., Jewish Studies Center, Room 100)
  • Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice (12 p.m., Beatty Center, Room 218)
