College of Charleston Launches BSN Program for Working Nurses
Registered nurses can choose from a one-year, full-time program or a part-time plan that fits with work schedules.

The College of Charleston School of Health Sciences is currently accepting applications for its first cohort of registered nurses who want to move from R.N. to B.S.N. in as little as one year. The online, flexible program was developed in collaboration with Trident Technical College.
“This program is a financially manageable way for nurses to advance their degree and their careers while concentrating on their education or remaining on the job, offering a respected College of Charleston bachelor’s degree with classes taught by distinguished nursing faculty,” says Wes Dudgeon, dean of the School of Health Sciences.
To make a B.S.N. more accessible for everyone, all R.N.-B.S.N. students will receive a 20% discount on in-state tuition, regardless of residency. Coursework will help students develop advanced skills in patient assessment, health informatics, leadership and evidence-based practice.
“The R.N.-B.S.N. program empowers nurses to expand their opportunities, increase their earning potential and gain greater professional autonomy,” says Dudgeon.
Karen Rogers, acting dean of Nursing at Trident Technical College, says this collaboration facilitates degree completion. “It creates a streamlined pathway for Trident Technical College associate degree nursing students to complete the bachelor of science in nursing degree at College of Charleston,” she says.
