The College of Charleston and Trident Technical College are partnering in a mutual effort to provide higher education opportunities to students through the EPIC Scholars program. This initiative establishes a streamlined transfer pathway for TTC students earning an associate in applied science degree in accounting, business administration or management to transfer to the College and complete the Bachelor of Professional Studies degree program, facilitating degree completion and stimulating the local workforce.
This pathway allows students to work toward a bachelor’s degree with many program prerequisites and general education requirements already fulfilled, reducing the time and cost typically required to complete a bachelor’s degree. The benefits of the EPIC Scholars program include guaranteed admission into the fully online B.P.S. program, bypassing program prerequisites, a 20% discount on tuition, a financial grant and individualized advising and mentoring.
College of Charleston President Andrew T. Hsu and TTC President Vicky Wood finalized the agreement at a signing event held Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in the South Carolina Aeronautical Training Center on TTC’s Thornley Campus in North Charleston. The signing event included Suzanne Austin, executive vice president of academic affairs and provost at CofC, and Laurie Boeding, TTC vice president of academic affairs.
“Today’s signing marks a clear and shared commitment to our students and to South Carolina’s future,” said Hsu at the event. “The EPIC Scholars program is about expanding access, removing barriers and making sure that more of our state’s students can turn their aspirations into reality.”
Wood added, “Trident Technical College is proud to partner with the College of Charleston to expand transfer opportunities for our students. This partnership enables Trident Technical College graduates to transfer into a bachelor’s degree program without losing credits. Streamlined transfer pathways strengthen individual opportunity, both colleges and our community.”
This agreement took effect March 3, 2025, and will be reviewed annually by representatives of each institution.
