CofC and Trident Tech Partner on New Direct Admission Program

News Briefs

The College of Charleston and Trident Technical College are expanding the EPIC Scholars program.

The College of Charleston and Trident Technical College (TTC) are entering into a partnership to expand the new direct admission program known as the EPIC Scholars program. On Wednesday, July 30, the institutions will sign a ceremonial memorandum of understanding to formalize a new direct admission pathway between the two institutions.

Through the partnership, TTC students who complete an AAS degree in accounting, business administration or management will gain direct admission into the College’s online Bachelor of Professional Studies program.

This expedited pathway allows students to pursue a bachelor’s degree with many program prerequisites fulfilled through prior coursework and reduced overall tuition, significantly shortening the time and cost typically needed to complete the degree. Students in the EPIC Scholars program receive a 20% tuition discount, a financial grant and personalized advising and mentoring.

This partnership with TTC expands the College’s EPIC Program, which is designed to strengthen workforce development across the state by offering flexible, accessible and expedited paths to a four-year degree. The EPIC Scholars program allows residents to earn a professional studies degree from the College while living and working anywhere in the state.

“By creating a clear path to the College of Charleston, we are helping more students reach their goals as we strengthen the state’s workforce,” says Suzanne Austin, executive vice president of academic affairs and provost at the College of Charleston.

TTC becomes the second South Carolina technical college to partner with the College on this statewide initiative. The first was Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
