The program's six CAA titles are now the most won by a school in league history.

The College of Charleston women’s golf team secured the program’s sixth CAA title and seventh overall conference crown on Sunday afternoon at The Reserve at St. James. The win is the Cougars’ third league title in the last four seasons having won back to back in 2022 and 2023. The program’s six CAA titles are now the most won by a school in league history, passing James Madison and University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Charleston secured the victory with clutch performances down the stretch, led by Adrian Anderson with two of the Cougars five birdies on the final three holes, to help seal the three-stroke win over UNCW. Charleston ended the tournament 16-over, tying the second lowest CAA Championship three-day team score set by the Cougars with the 2023 win.

“What a finish! I am so proud of the team. Five birdies on the final three holes under pressure. We talked about keeping your head down and just playing and we did it perfectly today,” says head coach Jamie Futrell. “It was the best round we have ever played at St. James and we needed every bit of it.”

With the win, Futrell secured his 41st career win. He now has the seventh most wins among active coaches and is tied for 20th all-time with Karen Bahnsen of LSU.

The Cougars led the field in total birdies with 42 across the three rounds. Futrell’s program either led or shared the lead through the entire competition, battling windy conditions and strong competition.

Charleston advances to the program’s 11th  all-time NCAA Regional appearance. The Cougars will find out their destination on Wednesday, April 23. NCAA Regionals will take place May 5-7 at previously selected host sites.
