College of Charleston Athletics is proud to announce the official launch of the Charleston Edge Collective. The Charleston Edge Collective is the new NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) Collective supporting College of Charleston student-athletes. The Charleston Edge exists to give student-athletes the edge they need to capitalize on their talents, build their personal brands and secure opportunities that set them apart – both on and off the court or field.

“Since Name, Image and Likeness became permissible over three years ago, the College of Charleston has embraced the opportunity and supported its student-athletes’ NIL pursuits. We are fortunate to live in a dynamic, world-class city with a university on the rise to national distinction,” says director of athletics Matt Roberts. “Charleston gives us an edge in the ever-changing landscape of Division 1 athletics. Today, we are happy to announce the new and official NIL platform for College of Charleston Athletics, the Charleston Edge Collective. The Charleston Edge will assist our athletics programs by capitalizing on current and future NIL opportunities. The Charleston Edge Collective will propel Cougar Athletics forward as we compete for championships in this new era of NCAA Division 1 athletics.”

The Charleston Edge Collective is dedicated to preparing student-athletes for life beyond sports by providing education on financial literacy, business skills and local business opportunities, helping athletes build a strong foundation for their future.

“I am incredibly proud of the team we’ve assembled at the Charleston Edge Collective and beyond excited to partner with the College of Charleston. Doing so will provide the resources our programs need to remain competitive on a national scale,” says Charleston Edge’s Founder Mark Peper. “NIL is here to stay, and if we want to continue our winning culture by attracting and retaining top-tier talent, we need to fully embrace it, collectively. The Charleston Edge is essential to ensuring that the College of Charleston not only keeps pace in this new era of college athletics, but thrives. As our rich history of success has shown, this is a program that wins in a city that wins. It’s what we do best. I urge our entire community – businesses, fans and alumni – to join our team, invest in our student-athletes and be a part of something truly special. Collectively, we can ensure that the College of Charleston continues to grow and succeed for years to come.”

The “Edge” in Charleston Edge speaks to the unique advantages that set CofC apart from other schools. College of Charleston is perfectly positioned to be a leader in the NIL space. Charleston is a destination city, giving our athletes access to a network of business leaders and opportunities that go beyond the local market. Being in Charleston gives the Cougars a powerful edge in the NIL world.

“As the new head coach of the College of Charleston basketball program, I can tell you firsthand how critical NIL has become in college athletics. It’s not just the future – it’s the present, and it’s here to stay. To remain competitive and continue to recruit and retain top talent, we must have a strong NIL presence. That’s why I’m proud to endorse the Charleston Edge Collective, which is helping to lead the way for our student-athletes,” says head men’s basketball Coach Chris Mack. “A special thank-you to Mark Peper for his generosity in getting this collective up and running. But it doesn’t stop here – we need our donors, alumni and fans to rally behind this effort. Your support of the Charleston Edge Collective will help CofC Athletics continue to grow, thrive and build on the success we’ve achieved.”
