The College of Charleston will host its Homecoming Weekend Nov. 15-17, 2024. Events and activities from the College’s annual Fall Alumni Weekend and the Spring Family Weekend have been combined to create this new tradition of a homecoming celebration on campus.

“This milestone event will bring together our entire community – students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends – to celebrate the rich history, pride and tradition that define our institution,” says President Andrew T. Hsu. “We are excited that our alumni will return to their alma mater and make lasting memories with us!”

Highlights for the weekend include:

  • Friday, Nov. 15, 4-6 p.m. – Kick off with a lively tailgate and pep rally in the Cistern Yard and on George Street.
  • Friday, Nov. 15, 7 p.m. – Head to TD Arena to watch our Cougars men’s basketball team take on the Florida Atlantic Owls.
  • Saturday, Nov. 16, 11 a.m.-1 pm – Meet College leaders and other CofC families at the Annual Family Picnic.
  • Saturday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m. – Honor the achievements of eight distinguished alumni at the 2024 Alumni Awards Ceremony in the beautifully restored Sottile Theatre. Award recipients are H. Biemann Othersen Jr. ’50, M.D.; Cheryll Novak Woods-Flowers ’81 (M.S. ’99); Canyon Berry ’16; Otis Robinson ’90; Joel Cook ’88, M.D.; Jonathan Cook ’88, M.D.; Derrick L. Williams ’99; and Maggie Panetta ’17.
  • Saturday, Nov. 16, 7-10 p.m. – Keep the celebration going at the Homecoming Oyster Roast and Class Reunions in Cistern Yard. Enjoy delicious oysters, whole-hog barbecue, an open bar and all the fixings under the majestic oaks! The Classes of ’74, ’84 and ’99 will have VIP access to historic Randolph Hall for their reunions – the perfect spot to reminisce and reconnect.
  • Sunday, Nov. 17, 9-11 a.m. – Enjoy coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts at Rivers Green before departing.

“We can’t wait to see everyone return for this new tradition at the College,” says Laurie Minges ’83, president of the Alumni Association. “This will be an exciting opportunity for everyone to reconnect and reminisce as we continue to build on the rich traditions that make the College so special.”
