College of Charleston EXPO 2024 Celebrates Research and More

News Briefs, Email Posts, All News

The EXPO 2024 will be held in TD Arena from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

At the College of Charleston, we encourage all students to engage in research and experiential learning activities. Each year, the university invites students to present their work to the campus community.

Held in TD Arena from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024, EXPO 2024 will showcase the amazing work by our undergraduate and graduate students who have conducted mentored research, scholarship, creative inquiry or community service projects during summer 2023 or the 2023-24 academic year.

Participating in research, creative activities or community service projects can be one of the most important aspects of college life. When students and faculty work together on projects, students gain knowledge and training, and they learn skills that are important to employers and in graduate school. Examples of some of those valuable skills include problem-solving, teamwork, communication, project and time management.

This year’s keynote speaker is Morgan Hughey, associate professor of public health, recipient of the College’s 2023 William V. Moore Distinguished Teacher-Scholar Award and the Riley Center for Livable Communities Faculty Fellow. A lifelong learner, former student athlet and outdoor enthusiast, Hughey will describe her research journey in physical activity and public health and how undergraduate student research enhances projects and community engagement in her presentation titled, “Every Move Counts: Improving Health Through Physical Activity Friendly Communities.”

This event is free and open to the public. The EXPO 2024 schedule of events is as follows:
