Last month, CofC faculty and staff donated nearly 500 pounds of professional clothing, shoes and accessories for the Cougar Free Store Professional Clothing Pop-Up event on April 1. More than 250 students stopped by to build their job-ready wardrobes from the repurposed donations. A collaboration between the Center for Civic Engagement, the Center for Sustainable Development and the Career Center, the event was designed to outfit students for award ceremonies, interviews, internships and the job market. On March 29, the College welcomed Chris Nassetta, the president and CEO of Hilton Worldwide, to campus for a full day of events, including a talk with students about leading a global hospitality giant and navigating the ever-changing landscape of the international business scene. On March 28, the College of Charleston Committee for Commemoration and Landscapes honored four students for their participation in the “Discovering Our Past” Expression of the Year contest: Cadence Brown for poetry, Mika Olufemi for art, and Devin Hammonds and Madison Meeks for activism.
