Catherine Christian ’19
Outreach and Programming Coordinator, Office of Student Wellness and Well-being

Background: I graduated from the College of Charleston in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and have spent the last several years working in the nonprofit sector in various advocacy roles. I am currently pursuing my master’s in public health from the University of South Carolina and look forward to combining my experience working in the community with my education in health promotion education and programming!

Interests: I have practiced yoga consistently since my undergrad days at CofC, and in 2020, became a certified yoga teacher. I love long walks and hikes, especially when accompanied by my two dogs, Luna and Georgia. Recently, I started baking sourdough bread, which has quickly become a lifelong commitment and all-thought-and-time-consuming hobby to keep.

Looking Forward: I look forward to working among and serving the students on campus and understanding their specific wellness needs.

Morgan Flynn
Morgan Flynn, Athletics

Morgan Flynn
Assistant Director of Athletics Compliance, Department of Athletics

Background: I grew up in Iowa City, Iowa, before moving to the Des Moines, Iowa, area to pursue a bachelor’s of sport administration at Simpson College. I graduated summa cum laude in May 2022 and, following graduation, worked full time for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Eligibility Center prior to moving to Louisville, Kentucky, in fall 2022. At Louisville, I started my master’s of sport administration and worked as an athletics compliance graduate intern for a year and a half. I have one final class and will graduate from the University of Louisville in May.
I’ve worked with many organizations and events, but the highlights include the MLB Field of Dreams Series in 2022 and the NFL Draft in 2023.

Interests: In my spare time, I love to watch or attend sporting events, play pickleball, read thriller books, go see concerts or live music, watch crime documentaries, listen to all kinds of podcasts and go try new restaurants or ice cream shops!

Looking Forward: I’m most looking forward to starting my career in a new city! I know Charleston has so much to offer, and all the people I met on my visit were great. I also can’t wait to cheer on our sports teams!

Background: I am from Walterboro, South Carolina. Before I came to the College of Charleston, I was working with veterans with PTSD and SUD at MUSC.

Interests: Some things I like to do in my spare time are watching TV shows (currently watching This Is Us), going for long walks, spending quality time with my family and friends, traveling and trying out new restaurants.

Looking Forward: I am looking forward to making new connections and assisting the student population at CofC with their mental health concerns/needs.

Amelia LeCompte
Amelia LeCompte, CAPP

Amelia LeCompte ’20
Case Manager, Center for Academic Performance and Persistence

Background: I am originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and attended the College of Charleston for my undergraduate degrees in psychology and political science. I knew as soon as I got to Charleston that it would be my forever home. I briefly left to attend the University of Denver, where I earned a master of social work and a post-master’s certificate in marriage and family therapy. I have been working as a couples and family therapist in Denver for the past two years. I have developed a passion for working with couples and families over the past two years, but desperately missed the warm weather and tight-knit community feel that Charleston offers. I cannot wait to begin doing what I love, in the place I love most!

Interests: I have an amazing husband and two dogs, and the four of us are always adventuring. We love to hike, camp and go to the dog park as much as we can. When I need a break from family time, you will find me reading, scrapbooking or sitting in the sunshine (ideally on the beach).

Looking Forward: The education and support I received at CofC was life changing, and I am so excited to begin working toward giving that same experience to current students. Also, the campus is undeniably gorgeous, and will be a wonderful office!

Nicole Marsh
Nicole Marsh, Registrar

Nicole Marsh ’23
Manager of Continuing Student Transfer Evaluation, Office of the Registrar

Background: I’m originally from Rochester, New York, but moved to Beaufort, South Carolina, when I was very young. I graduated in May 2023 from the College of Charleston, and my first position after graduation was in CofC’s registrar’s office!

Interests: My biggest passion in life is horseback riding. I competed for several years in Eventing Trials. If you’re around me long enough, I’ll break out my “glory day” photos with my blue-eyed mare.

Looking Forward: I look forward to this time in my life after college. I was fortunate to be hired in the registrar’s office not long after graduation, and I’m excited to see where the following years take me working for the College.

Sarah McIntosh
Frances McIntosh, Institutional Advancement

Frances McIntosh
Lead Annual Gift Officer, Division of Institutional Advancement

Background: I was born and raised here in the Charleston area. Before coming to the College, I worked in university development at my alma mater, Washington and Lee University.

Interests: I love spending time with friends and family. Outside of the office, you can find me in the kitchen or out enjoying nature. I love cooking, traveling, backpacking, trail running, kayaking and surfing.

Looking Forward: I am very excited to support an institution that has such a profound impact on my home community.

Gretchen Showalter
Gretchen Showalter, Alumni Affairs

Gretchen Showalter
Assistant Director of Annual Giving, Direct Marketing, Office of Alumni Affairs

Background: I am a native of Virginia. I earned a B.A. in marketing at the University of Mary Washington in 2020. I garnered valuable communications and marketing experience working as the manager of marketing and communications for the Virginia Youth Soccer Association, a nonprofit that serves over 130,000 members, for the past two years. Prior to that, I worked for Habitat for Humanity and the River Management Society.

Interests: I enjoy all things outdoors, and going on adventures with my cavapoo, Finn.

Looking Forward: I look forward working with a dynamic team to connect with and inspire alumni to engage, remember and give back to the College.
